Not a complicated problem to explain, but very unsettling and I've yet to solve it. I went to replace the battery in my 5D Mark III… tried a couple generic batteries that were out of juice then put in a genuine one… was surprisingly difficult to push in (didn't slide smoothly, lots of friction) but I figured it was seated slightly wrong but ok and pushed it in farther.
I have grips for my 5D I/II/III, but not for 5D IV, and now R5. I do think I have something to do say a bit about the battery grip. A battery grip is bigger, heavier and useless. It's a waste. Bigger: difficult to store in dry cabinet and camera bag. Heavier: one grip and one more battery.

Handling-wise, the Canon 7D Mark II is superb. It definitely feels more comfortable to hand-hold than the D7100, pretty close to what the Nikon D810 feels like. The large grip is very nice and comfortable and the controls of the camera very much resemble the Canon 5D Mark III.
